Coloured pigments have been used to dye textiles for hundreds of years. Since they are water-soluble, demonstrate no affinity to textile fibres and do not react in any way with textile fibres, a bonding agent is required. Almost all fibres can, however, be dyed like this. The performance of the dyeing thus also depends a great deal on the selected binder system as well as the pigment characteristics. It is therefore necessary to apply the pigments selected from the extensive range for pigment printing and pigment dyeing with the continue and discontinue process with the correct binder system.
